Hello, my name is Erica Botha. I am so glad you are here! I am a certified Birth Boot Atlanta Camp Doula and Childbirth Educator. You may be asking yourself, “What is a labor doula?” A labor doula is someone who is there for you and your partner throughout your pregnancy, birth and beyond. Doulas provide informational support on all things involving pregnancy, labor, and the weeks to come after the birth of your baby. We are also there to nurture and support you emotionally through this life changing event. While in labor, we are there to provide physical comfort to you in a variety of ways, as we have many tricks up our sleeve! I am here to tailor my support to your needs through the most eventful time of your life.
Your next question may be “Why do you believe that childbirth education is a key component to having the pregnancy and birth that I desire?” Simply put, knowledge is power. Pregnancy and birth can be overwhelming. There is terminology we’ve never heard before, routine testing that is done for all birthing people and navigating this can be cumbersome. Changes are happening daily to your body. All of this can be very confusing and anxiety producing. Imagine waltzing into your prenatal appointments, having the full knowledge of whats to come and what is happening now. That’s the feeling of empowerment! Education will help you to make the big decisions that are to come during your birth. It is my wish that you will have all of the tools in your tool box to have the birth outcomes that you desire. Having that knowledge will help you to advocate for yourself. I would love to further discuss with you how doula care and childbirth education can help you to achieve your birth goals.
